Data selection and combination principles On the basis of fully sorting out the production situation of alumina and electrolytic aluminum enterprises across the country, and in accordance with the principle of covering all representative processes and production capacities, and taking into full consideration the distribution of production capacities, nature of enterprises and other factors, we focused on selecting typical primary aluminum smelting enterprises in typical regions such as Henan, Shandong and Guangxi, and carried out an in-depth field survey, and formed a database of carbon emission factors for alumina and electrolytic aluminum, with the data of 2011 as the main body. The database of alumina production includes primary and secondary materials. The alumina production database includes four sub-databases: consumption of raw and auxiliary materials and waste generation, process technology and equipment, energy consumption of process materials, and secondary energy production of self-provided cogeneration plants.
