Use advice for data set When using this dataset, users should specifically consider the large-scale production setting (>4000 tons-clinker/day) which is representative of a significant portion of the cement industry in China. Further segmentation within the dataset should be considered regarding technological variations and the structure of different cement companies. It is crucial to apply this data in the context of life-cycle assessment studies focused on environmental impacts, particularly given the substantial market share of the new dry process method within the industry. Users should also consider integrating this data with other lifecycle stages of cement use, including the potential for recycling and end-of-life scenarios.
Technical purpose of product or process This dataset describes the large new dry process for common portland cement production in China, with a capacity of more than 4000 tons of clinker per day. This production method is applicable for use in large-scale cement manufacturing facilities and is useful for construction industry stakeholders interested in understanding the environmental impact of cement production on a large scale. Common portland cement is widely used in the construction of buildings, infrastructure, highways, and other forms of concrete structures.
Classification
Class name : Hierarchy level
  • ILCD: Unit processes / Materials production / Other mineralic materials
General comment on data set The new dry process method holds a market share of 61.82%, and the scale of the clinker production over 4000 tons per day accounts for 29.32%. In order to reflect the present environmental impact of China's cement industry, taking into account the adjustment of the industry structure and development status in recent years, and considering the differences in cement production technology and the size of different enterprises, China's cement industry is classified into four categories: large new dry process (>4000 tons of clinker per day), medium new dry process (2000~4000 tons of clinker per day), small new dry process (<2000 tons of clinker per day), and shaft kiln (<2000 tons of clinker per day).

Technological representativeness
Technology description including background system The new dry method accounts for 61.82% of the market share; >4000 tons-clinker/day, the scale share accounts for 29.32%. In order to reflect the environmental impact of China's cement industry at this stage, combined with the structural adjustment and development status of China's cement industry in recent years, and taking into account the level of cement production technology and the differences between cement companies of different sizes, this study divides China's cement industry into the following four categories : Large new dry process (>4000 tons-clinker/day), medium-sized new dry process (2000~4000 tons-clinker/day), small new dry process (<2000 tons-clinker/day) and vertical kiln ( <2000 tons-clinker/day).
