General comment | Tobacco is the name of several plants in the genus Nicotiana, and the general term for any product prepared from the cured leaves of these plants. It is a harmful substance that kills up to half of its users and affects over 80% of the world's population. There are approximately 600 ingredients in cigarettes. When burned, cigarettes create more than 7,000 chemicals. At least 69 of these chemicals are known to cause cancer, and many are toxic. |
