General comment | The whole egg is a source of high-quality protein and an excellent source of all vitamins (except vitamin C) and contains many essential minerals, including phosphorus and zinc. All the fats, or lipids, as well as the cholesterol are found in the yolk. Eggs are nutrient-dense, providing a high level of vitamins and minerals relative to the calories they contain. They are an excellent source of protein and choline, and they also contain several B vitamins, along with vitamins A and D. |
