General comment | Lead and zinc ores are usually found together with gold and silver. They may also contain lead sulfide, zinc sulfide, iron sulfide, iron carbonate, and quartz. When zinc and lead sulfides are present in profitable amounts they are regarded as ore minerals. A lead-zinc ore occurring in China contains a clay mineral, sericite. It is a subspecies of mica, with special physical properties. Lead ore, also known as galena, is a naturally occurring mineral composed of lead sulfide. The lead-zinc ore is a typical low-grade complex polymetallic sulphide ore. |
