General comment | Ethanol fuel is widely used in Brazil, the United States, and Europe. It is made from biomass and is an anhydrous, denatured alcohol that meets the ASTM standard specification D4806 for use as a fuel in spark-ignition engines. Most of the fuel ethanol is produced by fermenting the sugar in the starches of grains such as corn, sorghum, and barley, and the sugar in sugar cane. It can minimize dependence on fossil fuels. |
