General comment | Ultraviolet light is a type of electromagnetic radiation that makes black-light posters glow, and is responsible for summer tans and sunburns. It has different wavelengths and frequencies, and can be harmful or useful depending on the source and exposure. UV radiation is present in sunlight, and constitutes about 10% of the total electromagnetic radiation output from the Sun. It falls just beyond the violet end of the visible light spectrum. It has a wavelength ranging from 10 nanometers to 400 nanometers. |
