| General comment | Iminodiacetic acid is the organic compound with the formula HN(CH 2 CO 2 H) 2, often abbreviated to IDA. It is a white solid and a dicarboxylic acid amine. It is used in a hepatobiliary iminodiacetic acid (HIDA) scan, an imaging procedure used to diagnose problems of the liver, gallbladder and bile ducts. The scan involves the injection of a radioactive tracer into a vein in the arm. It is also used to visualize the hepatobiliary tract after labeling with a radioisotope of technetium. |
