| General comment | Triethylaluminium is one of the simplest examples of an organoaluminium compound. This colorless liquid is pyrophoric and an industrially important compound, closely related to trimethylaluminium. It can undergo 1,4-addition to 2-cyclopentenone in the presence of a chiral diphosphite ligand to form 3-ethylcyclopentanone. It reacts with water, ammonia, ethanol, and hydrogen chloride. |
