General comment | Condensed milk, also known as sweetened condensed milk, is regular cow's milk that has been concentrated and sweetened with sugar. It follows the same slow-cook process as evaporated milk, but with sugar added, it becomes thick and caramelized. Once the milk is pasteurized, it's piped into an evaporator, where it's concentrated. Sugar is added before the milk is vacuum-sealed into cans. It is much thicker than evaporated milk, since it contains less water and much more sugar. |
