General comment | Semi coke is the solid residue obtained by carbonization of coal at a relatively low temperature (below 700° C). It is generally softer and more friable than coke from carbonization at higher temperatures. It gives a hot smokeless fire and can be used as a domestic fuel. It is also a by-product or intermediate product of the conversion of coal into liquid and gaseous fuels. It can be used as solid fuel or as carbon black. |
