General comment Copper sulfate is an inorganic compound that combines copper and sulfate. It occurs in various forms such as anhydride, a monohydrate, and the pentahydrate, which is used as a fungicide or algicide. The pentahydrate forms a blue, crystalline, odorless solid with a metallic taste. It occurs in nature as the mineral chalcanthite. Copper sulphate is the salt of sulphuric acid and copper, formed at the second degree of oxidation. It is a crystalline, odourless powder that excellently absorbs water.
