General comment | Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral composed of long and thin fibres. Inhalation of asbestos fibres can cause serious lung conditions, such as mesothelioma and asbestosis. It is a mineral fiber that occurs in rock and soil and has been used for insulation, fire retardant, and other purposes.
