General comment | Organic fertilizer, also known as organic manure, is compost made from animal waste or animal and plant residues that are rich in natural by-products. Examples include guano, dried and powdered blood, ground bone, crushed shells, finely pulverized fish, phosphate rock, and wood. Organic fertilizers improve garden soil microbes where they are used. They assist with water retention and make the soil lighter so that more air is available to the plant roots. Unlike chemical fertilizers, they don't waste nutrients. |
