General comment | The soybean, or soya bean (Glycine max), is a species of legume native to East Asia, widely grown for its edible bean, which has numerous uses. It is used in various food products like soy milk, tofu, and soy sauce. The plant can reach more than 2 metres in height and its seeds can be yellow, green, brown, black, or bicoloured. Most commercial varieties have brown or tan seeds. Soybeans are also used for animal feed and a variety of nonfood consumer and industrial products. |
