It is used in motorized vehicles, where it is known specifically as motor oil and transmission fluid. Petroleum-derived lubricating oil is a mixture produced by atmospheric and vacuum distillation of selected paraffinic and naphthenic crude oils, after which chemical changes may be required to produce the desired properties of the refined product. |
