General comment | Silicon Chromium Alloy is a type of high alloy steel. It is a steely-grey, lustrous, hard, and brittle transition metal. Chromium metal in the alloy is valued for its high corrosion resistance and hardness. The alloy is made highly resistant to corrosion and discoloration by adding metallic chromium to form stainless steel. Additional elements added to this steel alloy include chromium, silicon, boron, nickel, molybdenum, vanadium and manganese. |
