Slag is a rock-like material generated during the steel-making process. It is the more or less completely fused and vitrified matter separated during the reduction of a metal from its ore. It is also the waste left over after the re-sorting of coal. Slag is fully named ground-granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBFs), a by-product produced by metallurgical smelting plants.
