Use advice for data set
Data set users focusing on the environmental aspects of the slaughtering stage should apply these energy consumption coefficients with caution and within the proper geographical and technological scope, as the data pertains to specific locations and practices in China. It is vital to note that energy coefficients may have changed since the data collection period (2014-2015) due to technological advancements or changes in operational practices. Users should also consider integrating this data with additional environmental impacts, such as greenhouse gas emissions and water usage, for a comprehensive LCA.
Technical purpose of product or process
The data set describes the energy consumption during the slaughtering stage of livestock and poultry, specifically laying hens. It provides figures for electricity consumption, segmented by different products: pork, beef, poultry, milk, and eggs. This information is essential for industries that deal with animal processing and slaughtering operations where the accurate accounting of energy use is critical for process optimization, cost reduction, and environmental impact assessments.

Technology description including background system
In this paper, the life cycle of livestock and poultry farming is divided into six stages: feed crop planting, feed processing, livestock and poultry raising, manure treatment, slaughter and transportation. The specific life cycle process of livestock and poultry breeding is shown in Figure 2-1. Due to the lack of some data and the limitations of basic conditions, the production, transportation and use of pesticides, mulch and feed additives have not been analyzed, and the environmental impact caused by other related infrastructure construction, transport production and labor costs is no longer considered.
