Use advice for data set | The dataset from 2012 should be carefully used and validated for ensuring its relevance and accuracy for current LCA studies of corn production in Zhangye. When utilizing this dataset, the system boundaries must be considered, which start from the production of chemical fertilizers and electricity and end with the output of agricultural products and pollutants during the crop planting process. Users should pay attention to the methodology used for data collection, such as stratified random sampling and typical sample selection, to understand the representativeness of the data. The geographic and technological applicability should also be factored in to guarantee that results are applicable to similar agricultural settings. |
Technical purpose of product or process | The data represents the process of corn production in Linze, Zhangye, Northwest China, which is intended for studying the agricultural carbon footprint and life cycle assessment of crop production systems. The data can be applied to evaluate environmental impacts associated with plant agricultural practices, particularly focusing on corn as a staple crop. The information is valuable for monitoring and managing agricultural practices to reduce carbon footprints and for devising sustainable agriculture policies. |

General comment on data set | The article is based on research data collected from farmers and utilizes the theory of agricultural carbon footprint and life cycle assessment to quantitatively study the size and composition of the carbon footprint of the rice-wheat rotation system in the downstream area of the Yangtze River. Additionally, it further analyzes the factors that influence the carbon footprint. |

Technology description including background system | LCA method is used to evaluate the agricultural system of seed corn production, which takes the whole process of product treatment from input to final output as the research object to conduct quantitative analysis and comparison, so as to evaluate the environmental impact of seed corn production [13]. In this paper, the mass of seed corn 1 t is used as the functional unit. The boundary of the system starts from the production of fertilizer and electricity, and ends from the output of agricultural products and pollutants in the crop planting process. In other words, there are two production systems, namely the agricultural material production system and the crop production system |

Data selection and combination principles | The data in this text comes from the statistical sampling survey of Zhangye city, and additional data obtained from a special survey conducted during the 2012 input-output table. In Ganzhou district, Jiantan town, Dangzhai village, and Xiaoman village were selected; in Linze county, Shahe town and Pingchuan town were selected; in Gaotai county, Xuanhua town, Xiangdao village, and Luotuo city township were chosen. After excluding incomplete data, a total of 72 household's effective data was obtained
Deviation from data selection and combination principles / explanations | None
Data treatment and extrapolations principles | Using a combination of stratified random sampling and typical sample selection methods, data were collected through questionnaire surveys and structured interviews with typical samples. The survey content revolves around all input production elements and economic costs, as well as resource consumption, etc. The output mainly focuses on product yield and the current economic value, as well as the quantity of waste generated and its disposal methods.

Sampling procedure | It is determined that the survey sample size in the three counties and districts of Zhangye city needs to add 80 household surveys. The composition of the samples maintains the principle of being consistent with the local agricultural added value ratio. The corresponding survey household numbers are determined according to the agricultural added value ratio of 7:5:8, that is, 28, 20, and 32 households are respectively drawn from the three counties and districts.
