Model description | The functional unit of cement life cycle assessment is 1 ton of cement product.The entire cement life cycle is divided into raw material preparation unit, pulverized coal preparation unit, clinker calcination unit and cement grinding unit. The raw material preparation stage (raw meal preparation) includes raw material crushing, grinding, drying and pre-homogenization processes; the pulverized coal preparation stage includes raw coal transportation, storage and grinding; the clinker calcination stage includes preheating decomposition and adding coal to the rotary kiln. During the heating process of powder and raw materials, CO2, SO2, NOx and other waste gases are emitted; the cement grinding stage includes gypsum, limestone crushing and cement grinding. |

Sampling procedure | A cement company in Dalian has a new dry process kiln cement clinker production line with a daily output of 4,000 tons and an independently mined open-pit limestone mine. There are mineral resources such as limestone and shale distributed around the factory area. There is one cement mill with a diameter of 3.8m and a length of 13m, and two slag mills with a diameter of 3.2m and a length of 13m. The cement production process is mainly divided into four stages: raw meal preparation stage, clinker preparation stage, pulverized coal preparation stage, and cement grinding stage. The main raw materials in the raw meal stage are limestone, shale, silica, and iron powder; the main fuel in the clinker stage is coal; the main raw materials in the cement grinding stage are gypsum, limestone, fly ash, and slag; the main energy sources come from coal and electricity. The enterprise has an annual output of 1.35 million tons of clinker and 700,000 tons of composite Portland cement; the annual production of the rotary kiln is 330 days, and the annual production of the cement mill is 270 days. The products are ordinary Portland grade 42.4 cement and composite Portland grade 32.5 cement. | ||||
