General comment Sludge is a semi-solid slurry produced from a range of industrial processes, including water treatment, wastewater treatment, and on-site sanitation systems. It can be produced as a settled suspension from conventional drinking water treatment, as sewage sludge from wastewater treatment processes, or as a sedimentary deposit formed by water. Sludge reduces heat efficiency and may cause scale formation in boilers and heat exchangers. |
