General comment As the solar photovoltaic (PV) market grows, the volume of end-of-life panels will also increase. By 2030, the United States is expected to have as much as one million total tons of solar panel waste. Some rare elements in PV cells, like gallium and indium, are being depleted from the environment over time. Most PV panel waste ends up in landfill, making policy actions necessary to address the challenges of solar PV waste. |
